Arn Quakkelaar - Executive Director
Arn serves as the CEO and Founder of Genesis in Milwaukee. During a span of 40 years in the professional world working as a registered engineer for Johnson Controls and Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation, Arn was able to develop his God given gifts and talents. Arn and his high school sweetheart, Norma, married in 1959 and raised five sons. They are active members of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI.
After taking early retirement in 1996, Arn knew he wanted to fulfill his call into “missionary work” but he didn’t know if it would be “around the world or across the street”. It was during this time when Arn visited with community leaders, organizations, pastors, deacons, gang leaders and Christians who were carrying the gospel to the inner city. Then in 1997 Arn and Norma started BASICS (Brothers And Sisters In Christ Serving) in Milwaukee, Inc. as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
In 2009, after several years of intensive research into the problems in corrections, justice systems and law enforcement, Arn founded the GENESIS in Milwaukee, Inc. GENESIS is now serving hundreds of “Returning Citizens” and their Mentors to assist them in recovery. With the vision, “to see Christians united to transform lives and cities for the Glory of God”, Arn is more convinced than ever that this is where God wants him to be!
